Trust-Based Philanthropy at the United Way Great Rivers Conference

  • Mayo Civic Center 30 Civic Center Drive Southeast Rochester, MN, 55901 United States (map)

This in-person session is part of the United Way Great Rivers Conference in Rochester, Minnesota. Registration is required to attend.

What if our approach to community impact is broken? Grantmaking is fraught with power imbalances and too often perpetuates philanthropy's history of racism. Two local United Ways will share their experiences grappling with these issues by implementing trust-based grantmaking journeys, including key learnings, challenges, and advantages of trust-based grantmaking for creating equitable community impact in their regions.

Attendees will engage in self-reflection and leave with actionable tools to create a greater impact.

Speakers:

Rashanda E. Freeman, Trust-Based Philanthropy

Emily Johnston, United Way of Olmsted County

Alyssa Stewart, United Way of South Central Michigan
