Monday, March 20, 2023, | 9:45am - 12:00pm (CST)

This interactive conversation and skill-building workshop will examine ways that grantmaking practices can evolve to prioritize values-based storytelling practices and influence broader change in arts and culture funding.

The session will draw lessons from The Trust-Based Philanthropy Project, a five-year peer-to-peer funder initiative to address the inherent power imbalances between foundations and nonprofits. It will also feature case studies of recent evolutions in funding that center consent, transparency, and a rebalancing of power. A short episode from the StoryShift video series will be shown as a prompt, featuring program officers of the MacArthur Foundation and Surdna Foundation.

Speakers:

Sonya Childress, Color Congress

Molly Murphy, Working Films
