This event is part of the 2021 Global Philanthropy Forum, which will take place October 19-21, 2021 virtually. Registration required.
As philanthropy reckons with the power imbalances inherent in the sector, two complementary practices have emerged as alternatives to strategic philanthropy. Participatory grantmaking and trust-based philanthropy models seek to shift and redistribute power back to the communities philanthropy seeks to serve. This working group panel will offer perspectives from funders who have implemented trust-based and participatory practices in their giving and will share both the challenges and the successes.
