This in-person breakout session “Beyond the Basics: Operationalizing Trust-Based Philanthropy” is part of the NY Funders Alliance Conference happening October 11-12, 2023 in Syracuse, NY. Registration is required.
Trust-based philanthropy has been gaining momentum as an approach that alleviates power imbalances toward a more just and equitable social sector. While it is most associated with unrestricted grants and streamlined applications and reports, it is much greater than the sum of these practices. Fundamentally, trust-based philanthropy flips the script on the compliance-oriented culture of conventional philanthropy to build better funder-grantee relationships.
But what does it actually look like to embody these values in our day-to-day work? What is the process of building trust and transparency in a sector that has perpetuated harm? And what’s in it for grantmaking practitioners to invest the time and energy it takes to fully embody a trust-based approach?
Join the Trust-Based Philanthropy Project for an interactive session to go beyond the basics and towards truly operationalizing what it means to be a trust-based practitioner. This session will include interactive space to reflect and engage with colleagues on what it looks like to take the next step in your trust-based journey. Practitioners at every level will gain tangible next steps, and we’ll co-create an action plan to move forward in the work.
