2021 Unity Summit Kindling Chat: Trust-Based Philanthropy & Racial Justice – Both/And

This Kindling Chat is part of CHANGE Philanthropy’s 2021 Unity Summit which will take place virtually October 25-28, 2021. Registration required.

One common question posed to the Trust-based Philanthropy effort is this: how does racial justice sit within, alongside, or tangential to it? As racial inequities persist in our economies, democracy, public health, climate, food systems, and at the root of a troubled social sector, this question becomes ever more imperative to resolve. Two practitioner-advocates of trust-based philanthropy will have a frank conversation about Trust-based Philanthropy and Racial Justice for this crackling Kindling chat. From a learn by doing (and failing) perspective, the chat will offer a window into the "both/and" of TBP and racial justice efforts. Participants can expect to walk away with some clear applications of trust-based practices in service of racial justice, as well as a deeper understanding of how to navigate the challenges that might come up in the process.

The 2021 Unity Summit will host over 2,000 participants to expand their individual and institutional practice in order to advance equity with an intersectional lens, and with community at the center.
