Breakout Session at Arizona Nonprofit + Grantmaker Conference: On the Journey Together, Exploring Trust-Based Partnerships

  • Mesa Convention Center 263 North Center Street Mesa, AZ, 85201 United States (map)

This in-person breakout session “On the Journey Together: Exploring Trust-Based Partnerships” is part of the Arizona Nonprofit + Grantmaker Conference happening August 24, 2023 in Mesa, AZ. Registration is required.

Trust-based philanthropy has gained sector-wide recognition as an approach that alleviates power imbalances toward a more just and equitable nonprofit sector. While it is most associated with unrestricted grants and streamlined paperwork, it is much greater than the sum of these practices. Fundamentally, trust-based philanthropy flips the script on traditional philanthropy in ways that affect an organization’s culture, leadership, structures, and practices in service of a healthier and more equitable nonprofit sector

Together, we will explore what it looks like for grantmakers to lean into this approach fully. We will hear from a nonprofit leader and grantmaker pair who are on the journey of creating trust-based partnerships. Attendees of this session can expect to walk away with a clear understanding of what it means to be a trust-based grantmaker and tangible strategies to cultivate trust-based partnerships.
