Breakout at PEAK Grantmaking Annual Conference: Journey to the Center of Trust-Based Philanthropy

  • Baltimore Marriott Waterfront 700 Aliceanna Street Baltimore, MD 21202 United States (map)

This breakout session “Journey to the Center of Trust-Based Philanthropy” is part of the PEAK Grantmaking Annual Conference happening May 8-10, 2023 in Baltimore, MD. Registration is required.

At the root, trust-based philanthropic practices redistribute power by centering relationship-building, collaboration, trust, and conversations. Through a world cafe format, this session will give the opportunity for funders to reflect on the alignment between trust-based philanthropic practices and organizational values, and can offer guidance for how to narrow that gap. Additionally, the session will offer learnings and strategies for implementing and sustaining trust-based philanthropic practices. It will also allow funders to listen to diverse perspectives and learn collectively from one another through conversations. Trust-based philanthropy calls for funders to propel equity and steward responsively by streamlining processes, and this session will discuss the strengths and challenges while carrying out that work. This session will allow funders to connect with like-minded organizations with similar trust-based philanthropic journeys–from nascent to more developed.

Speakers:

Chantias Ford, Director of Programs, Trust-Based Philanthropy Project

Elaine Mui, Director of Grants & Operations, General Service Foundation

Jenny Agmi, Senior Program Officer, Libra Foundation

Lilia Granillo, Grants Associate, Libra Foundation
