Webinar: Trust-Based Philanthropy with Gateway Center

This event is co-hosted by the Gateway Center for Giving.

Trust-Based Philanthropy is being embraced by a growing number of foundations as a way to alleviate power imbalances between funders and grantees while fostering more productive and informative relationships. Driven by the central philosophy that funders should approach grantee relationships as learning partnerships, a trust-based approach encourages multi-year unrestricted funding, streamlined reporting, and transparent and responsive communication. In this session, participants will hear from Mailee Walker, Executive Director of Claneil Foundation, and Vanessa Garrison, Founder and COO of GirlTrek and former grantee partner of Claneil Foundation. Together, Mailee and Vanessa will discuss the six principles of trust-based philanthropy and what it looks like in practice. Participants will learn about how foundations and grantees both benefit from a trust-based approach, and will have a chance to consider some practical next steps to build more productive and balanced funder-grantee relationships.

This event is hosted by the Gateway Center for Giving and is free to all members. For more information and to register, visit https://www.centerforgiving.org/events/upcoming.
