Trust-Based Philanthropy 101

Trust-Based Philanthropy is being embraced by a growing number of foundations as a way to alleviate power imbalances between funders and grantees while fostering more productive and informative relationships. Driven by the central philosophy that funders should approach grantee relationships as learning partnerships, a trust-based approach encourages multi-year unrestricted funding, streamlined reporting, and transparent and responsive communication.

On Monday, February 10, the Grantmakers Council of Rhode Island will host Phil Li, President of the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation, as he shares about the six principles of trust-based philanthropy, his journey to implement trust-based practices at his foundation, and the lessons he's learning along the way. Participants will also have an opportunity to explore a particular area of practice that they hope to refine or build in an effort to build more productive and balanced funder-grantee relationships, and can expect to walk away with practical next steps to share with colleagues.

For GCRI funders only.

Please RSVP to nancy.wolanski@uwri.org.
