Community Agreements for Peer Exchange Participation

This community supports practical, peer-to-peer exchange on trust-based philanthropy. By participating in the listserv, virtual events, and meetups, you agree to help us maintain a space that is useful, respectful, and grounded in shared learning. While the listserv is moderated, we ask that you help us in caring for the community by following its agreements.

  • Uphold trust-based values. Practice humility, curiosity, power-consciousness, and openness with one another. Support a culture where people feel comfortable asking real questions.

  • Stay grounded in purpose. Keep contributions focused on practical questions, experiences, and resources related to trust-based philanthropy.

  • Practice self-reflection. In order to do this work well, we must practice a degree of self-reflection which recognizes that, although we are all working toward the same shared goals, we each bring our opinions and lived experiences to this work. Take time and space to reflect on your own role in this movement to prioritize trust, cede power, and build equity.

  • Act with respect and be accountable. We are here to listen to and learn from one another. As a community that values trust, we will all do our part to listen and honor each others’ experiences and actively work to cause no hurt or harm in our relationships. This is a space to actively work toward the systems and relationships we want to see in the world. Harassment or harmful behavior will not be tolerated. If issues arise, moderators will intervene to support a healthy environment.

  • Maintain confidentiality. Information that is posted on the listserv may not be shared externally, unless the person posting it has given explicit permission. This allows participants to work through their challenges openly, without speaking for their organizations.

If you experience or witness behavior that is not aligned with these agreements, including harassment of any kind, please email community@trustbasedphilanthropy.org.
